Emotional Support Animal Letters
I am trained in Animal-Assisted Interventions and have been writing successful Emotional Support Animal (ESA) letters for over 5 years. Clients seeking an ESA letter must be in Missouri at the time of the assessment and be seeking housing or residing in Missouri. I currently write letters for emotional support cats and dogs for the purposes of housing only. I do not write letters for bringing animals into public spaces or on air transit. I am happy to fill out forms provided by property owners or property management companies, which is included in the cost of the assessment.
In order to write an ESA letter, I must attest to the client having a mental health disorder. Therefore, I provide a comprehensive diagnostic assessment and clinical interview. Your diagnosis is private and not included in the letter.
Fees
Emotional Support Animals assessments are not billed to insurance. I charge $150 for the assessment and $45 for the letter/form for a total of $195. If your primary diagnosis that requires an emotional support animal is Autism or ADHD, I will need documentation from another healthcare professional, or an additional hour to do the evaluation at $150 per hour. Letters stating your diagnosis, separate from the ESA letter, are provided for an additional $45. Your records are kept on file for 7 years, so an additional assessment and updated letter can be provided at any time for an additional $195 if you welcome a new emotional support animal into your home or move to a new location in Missouri.
Availability
This service is available to adults age 18+. Assessments are provided via telehealth using a HIPPA-compliant online portal for Missouri residents or in-person at my Kansas City location for Kansas residents.
